Interim Italy coach Silvio Baldini expressed surprise at the humility shown by experienced goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and young striker Francesco Pio Esposito. The pair were part of a squad dominated by Under-21 players.
Baldini noted that despite their status, both players integrated well with the younger group during the international break. Their attitude impressed the coaching staff.
